which I assume would have been sewn onto a cloth torso

I have searched and searched and found no others like these out there

which is marked Italy 439

I just love how curious and bright eyed and open to the world the figure looks

To my eye quite a satisfying thing formally, and even better self reflexive I'l like to think it was the matches from this very Red & White Brand match box that were used to make it, yielding the empty box! 5 1 8" x 3" x 1 3 4". Very good condition. C. 1940s or so, I believe.
