I would guess this one in the 1950s or so

My guess is that it is Japanese

I really love how old and dark and briny it feels

as a planter for a narcissus or amaryllis

If Brancusi were to carve a whimsy, perhaps this is the sort of one he might make. There are a couple of round holes carved through the sides that suggest perhaps it was once part of something larger, or had plans to be, but I have no idea.
