Loss to bottom right corner and a small tear in the paper where the red barn at far right is

used to detail finely incised court scenes on the exterior sides and lid

but all sorts  of things to do with them

Ever Satisfying and Useful Nesting and Stacking Cubes, c. 1930s-40s, Set of Five victorian paper doll The handwritten cursive running alongI am forever looking for these but it is a rare day that I turn up a good set and this is the first set I've ever had where the boxes are sized scaled to nest at graduated heights, so they make this terrific looking stepped rainbow pyramid when arranged one inside the next. I'd be inclined to set them that way and leave them alone, but they're great ones for stacking and using as pedestals for other things too, with plenty of wear but not much paint
