The bowl measures 9 1/2” across at widest and 5 1/2” tall

and carries a pretty interesting history

I am pretty certain this lacquered papier mache box was made to be used as a snuff box and dates to the late 19th or very early 20th century

There is some old green paint in a few spots in addition to the red

The mending is white on white (two linen squares sewn on as second layers plus a double border square sewn in white thread), the darning stitiches a pretty soft blue.
