This is an antique carved and painted wooden Nandi-- the sacred bull calf

Blue and purple color faded as evident but in very good structural condition

which a little research reveals began operations in 1864

I would guess. Red and black painted flourishes on the seat, front and back, against what looks perhaps like a now much mellowed gold, and a layer of varnish over top.
