Like a Grid of Signal Flags, Great Old Hand-sewn Doll Quilt in Red and White Jose Cotacachi painted on a plate (IWith very rare exceptions, I leave full scale quilts to others, but I'm forever looking for great old doll quilts or crib quilts, especially ones with compositions that make them feel as much like paintings as textiles. And this one, with its grid of red triangles, striped in shifting positions, feels to me as if loaded with language, too each square a symbol, and the quilt as a whole delivering some sort of message to be decoded! Relatedly, feels a
