it has quite a wonderful presence

though I do think a few big white pink peonies would be its ideal completion

these are just on the surface and there are otherwise no chips or cracks--it remains a truly stunning piece

(My favorite is by Francois Clouet, c. 1450, which I've included in photos, and from which this miniature clearly derives inspiration.) As a side note, as I understand
