I believe this is pewter, and was made as a paper knife letter opener rather than as a page turner, as it is heavy and substantial and that blade good for tearing open an envelop and of course it's the perfect one for opening love letters and valentines. Excellent objecthood, with raised ring (feeling a bit like a wedding band, really) mid way down, and heavy enough to weight down a pile of papers on the desk too. 8" l
