CVNE (Contino), Rioja Gran Reserva Vintage:2007 There is really lovely vibrancy

There is really lovely vibrancy to the admirably pure medium weight flavors that exude energy as well as a fine minerality on the focused and long but slightly flat finish

On the palate it shows a bit of the more rustic style of the 1970s

their 2011 Rudesheimer Beg Schlossberg Riesling delivers aromas of nose-wrinkling but pleasant pungency suggesting gunpowder green as well as smoky black tea

This is also moderately toasty with its otherwise fresh and attractively layered aromas of purple fruit

CVNE (Contino), Rioja Gran Reserva Vintage:2007 There is really lovely vibrancyA very powerful red with the structure and intensity of a great Rioja from the 1950s, 1960s or 1970s. Real gran reserva. Dried fruits such as plums, prunes and cherries. Hints of figs too. Layered and so structured. Full bodied and chewy yet intense and persistent. A fabulous wine. So much potential here. Better in 2020.
