Only the return of warmer weather at the start of September imbued the vintage with a freshness of great Chardonnay in tune with the subtly restrained power of Pinot Noir and a soupçon of rounded Meunier – that final little touch making the wine more pleasurable to drink soon

but it closes down to reveal a tart

cool and perfumed nose of mostly red currant and cherry is liberally laced with notes of earth

This is class in a glass though make no mistake that it is a wine that is going to require extended keeping if you wish to see it at its peak
