I am finding it hard to resist antique floral watercolors these days--perhaps in part for knowing that the loveliness of spring blooms exploding everywhere at the moment will soon be gone

and I guess the pair of wonderfully snake-like recessed forms at the top represent hooks or perhaps clasps that would have been forged on it

and a nice dry wood patina to the pine

Feels all about the cusp of womanhood to me, a high blush on this young woman's cheeks as she turns her to meet the gaze of the viewer, showing a little leg as she does. And this little dog peeking out behind her skirt, looking some mix of eager and anxious, one assumes a metaphor for her state of being too. Details give a good sense, with light
