An art critic Finish:Single with white neck-cloth and shirt'An art critic', 1871. A caricature of William Henry Gregory (1817 1892), Anglo Irish writer and Conservative politician. Gregory served as MP for Dublin from 1842 1847 and for Galway from 1857 1872, before being appointed Governor of Ceylon, a post which he held until 1877. He had a keen interest in the arts, which led to him having a long association with the British Museum.
