"This is to Remember Me When I am Ded", Peter's 19th C. Ink and Watercolor Double Portrait folk art religious which wasn't placed very carefullyThis is to remember me The grass is green The rose is red This is left When I am ded. Signed what looks like Peter S. Burgard; I have turned up a Peter Gurgard born in 1822 in Rhineland Palatinate, Germany, married in 1850 in Erie, NY, which seems about right to me, period wise and in terms of the costumes here but I don't know for certain. There were a few scraps of notes included with it (see photos) noting it was purchased along with a 1829 fraktur
