but I think this is pretty special for the awkward juxtaposition of these two fellows

Most exciting are several pages devoted entirely to colored pencil drawings

I've done some searching and found a number of Schortmann's from my neck of the woods near Boston

This one has certainly had quite a life

Naive Lion Drawing in Period Frame farm boy birds and abstract shapes thatThis old hand drawn lion looks as if it must have been inspired by a heraldic one, but how much better naively rendered in what looks to be a mix of crayon and graphite, with black ink for the eyes. Marvelous folky face, and those huge paws with what look like a few extra toes really do it for me! With "lion" written in ink at lower left, making me think most likely this was a school drawing. 5 7 16"x 4 3 8" framed. Sold in the period frame I found it
