rainbow colored line with a wire center (I think maybe a waxed braided nylon)--which I must say is pretty gorgeous wound just as it is

but also for the fact that they somehow escaped the trash heap for me to rather miraculously to discover them buried in a pile at a flea market some 80 years later

Super usable as a door stop still

They come with a silver-toned metal insert and the original pair of (unused) candles
