I like this for its generosity as well as for the sheer depth of material and while there is enough mid-palate fat to allow the ’04 Bâtard to be approachable now

It's showing very well

The sheer density of fruit here is nothing short of remarkable and the complexity is equally amazing and words cannot really do justice to the breadth of aromas though it is worth noting that there is veritable profusion of the classic sauvage character of a fine Renardes along with notes of plum-like liqueur

prune and blackberry with subtle hints of dark chocolate

The medium bodied palate boasts an excellent balance of linear acidity and powerful, honeyed fruit, with a very long, nuanced finish. It has the layers, energy and satiny texture to develop gracefully in bottle over the next decade.
