I belief the chief represented here is most likely Southwestern Pueblo
5 1/4" x 4" on a very thin laid paper with a watermark
visualizing a whole collection arranged across a few shelves
Wonderful Small, Early 19th C. Folk Art Watercolor of Houses on Hill hand-embroidered sleeve based I believe of theI was quite surprised and delighted to find this one when rummaging through a box of odds and ends at a not especially fine shop about 30 minutes from home the other day, but wonders never cease! It is a small one, but definitely an early one, c. 1820s 30s I believe, and I'd bet painted of a village not far from here. Great color, iconic New England, and based on how it was trimmed I'm sure it once lived in a miniature type frame with round opening,
